Online Music Examination

Indians have a rich tradition of music and culture. Indian children learn music, dance and the arts from a young age. They also appear for music and dance examinations. There are two types of examination boards, one set serves Western music and the other serves Indian music. There are a few examination boards that offer online music examinations like the Musicea Arts and Culture Council. Musicea Arts and Culture Council is the only qualifications-awarding institute that has national and international syllabi for both Indian and Western subjects. There are several advantages of online music examination. The online and in-person examination mode assists a candidate in choosing an examination from his home, music school, teacher’s studio or any place of his choice. Sitting for an examination from a known place provides confidence. The candidate also saves travel time and money to the examination hall. Online music examination happens via Live streaming, recorded video or both. There is an advantage of the recorded video too. The candidate may record several videos and send only the best performance recorded. Live streaming requires high-speed uninterrupted internet. This is a concern in many cities in India. For this progressive board Music uniquely offers a candidate to select an examination using both options. The Performance and Technical Exercise section is pre-recorded and uploaded. The Musicianship and Musical Knowledge is via Live streaming. The feedback from teachers and candidates is impressive as they can select from a wide range of options.

The present and future are digital. Online music examinations and music classes are the new normal until new technology arrives. This mode will increasingly become popular. Being cost-effective, the examination mode saves a lot of time and energy. The registration, examination and issuing of certificates take much less time and inconvenience. Gone are the days when a candidate had to queue for registration. Many times, the concerns of the candidates and teachers were overlooked. The examination sessions were fixed and, in many cases, the date and time were fixed by the board that did not suit the candidate. The experience for many was not as pleasant as in many cases they were not nicely treated and respected. Musicea Arts and Culture Council since its inception has addressed all these issues with its policy of teachers and students first. This professional approach has also forced the big and fat bossy boards to change their approach. The post-Covid era will be more rewarding to teachers and candidates and they will have access to multiple options.
